2 or 3 way media set which is better?

What does 2-way and 3-way mean?

When we say that a media set is 2-way, this means so it has 2 types of speakers where each one of these delivers a different frequency range, generally: high and low. If it is a 3-way, then you definitely could have 3 speakers , each delivering a different frequency range, typically: high, medium, and low.

These sets help us a great deal because sound waves are very different at each frequency, and that's why they play best on different speaker sizes : high-pitched cymbal sounds require an audio to go quickly to reproduce the sound, the sounds of Low frequencies such as for instance a drum, bass, or guitar require a much larger horn to be able to move a more substantial level of air. Which means each speaker can do a better job of reproducing sounds within its frequency range.

Crossover function

The crossover is the one which may help us divide the different sound frequencies between 2 or 3 speakers. This takes the signal from the amplifier and divides it into 2 or 3 frequency ranges and sends it to the speaker that is best designed to deal with those frequencies. In a 2-way set, the sound is divided involving the tweeter (mid-high-high frequencies) and the woofer (low-low mid frequencies). In the 3-way set it's split into 3 frequencies (low-mid-high) and distributed to its 3 types of speakers.

And now yes, to the level:

Does a 3-way Set sound better than the usual 2-way?

Just like all questions involving speakers , the solution is really a simple "maybe." Although it would appear that dividing the signal into 3 ranges would boost the accuracy of music playback on an audio, that is determined by how well the crossover is configured and some other factors or components, like the layout of the elements, the cabin design. , how well the speakers are combined together and what sound you want to get.

How to select a good two or three way media set ?

Our advice would be to "use your ears ".Compare with anyone who has a 2 or 3-way media set so you can determine which you might best suit the sound you want to achieve and your musical tastes. For more insights jump to:  2 way vs 3 way speakers

Whichever of the two you select, they are great alternatives, although you have to consider that, in the event of the 3-way media set , you can find 3 speakers that may require an installation and a perfect calibration of the crossover to execute a Good job, so if you're not so professional, it is best to put in it and calibrate a real professional so you can like a good set3-way.

If you want the practical and more conventional, then a 2-way set is the one for you.
